Sun Tech days 2009, Hyderabad

Sun Tech Days 2009 held at Hyderabad was a great success with thousands of students participating in it from all over the country.


  • Witnessed a record milestone of 100 new Osum Groups with 1000 members joined Osum community .

  • Key projects were showcased and demonstrated by CA's at University Stall.

  • Faculties from our CA's Institutes participated in Academic Round Table.

  • Jay Mahadeokar and Lalith Suresh gave lightning talks and Kumar Abhishek talked Open Source entrepreneurship on the University Day.

  • Kavya Dharmarajan, MSRIT and her team, Lalith Suresh and Jay Mahadeokar demonstrated their projects at the project stall.

  • Campus ambassadors also got a chance to meet and interact with Joe Hartley, Vice President, Global Education department.

Technical Fests

  • Dwarkanath J from SASTRA University had organised a JavaFX workshop. Engineers from Sun conducted the workshop. He also conducted lot of demos on various sun technologies during DAKSH. 6000 students participated for DAKSH.

  • Karthik from NIT, Trichy had organised a JavaFX workshop. Engineers from Sun conducted the workshop.He also conducted lot of demos on various sun technologies during Tech Fest .4000 students participated for Tech Fest.

  • Karthik kulkarni from BVB Hubli conducted a workshop on JavaFX as part of the National level tech fest, ‘Pleiades-09. Students from 10 different colleges participated for this event.

  • Manoj from CIT,Coimbatore had organised “HORISUN” event. Kumar Abhishek from Sastra gave a talk during Horisun. 500 students participated during HORISUN.

  • Avinash and Sun club team from Amrita University had organised a National Level FOSS Conference - FOSSTER '09 at Amritapuri Campus . The event was inaugurated by K. Nageshwara Rao, Site Lead,IEC.Sun Engineer Tirthankar gave talk on Open HA Clusters and Mayuresh gave a talk on introduction to OpenSolaris.

  • Mahesh Sharma from PICT Pune had conducted Programming contest, OSUM registrations and installation fest during his Tech fest.

  • Vasudha Amrit, MIT Manipal Induction of GlassFish and J2EE in curriculum, JavaFX workshop.

  • Sumanth, JNTU Hyderabad organised tech fest Quest 09. Sun Engineers Ravi and Pankaj gave a talk on MySQL. 300  students participated for this workshop.

  • Shashank Shekhar, VIT Vellore organised Sun Tech Day with three tracks with Sun engineers Gowtham Thommandra Nirmal Agarwal, Vadiraj Deshpande, Amit Saha, Varun Rupela and Blessan.Mathews and Lawrence Premkumar. 400 students from VIT participated for Sun Tech Day.

  • Kunal Kapoor, IITM Gwalior Student Technology camp with Sun engineer Ajay Ahuja.

  • Niharjyoti Sarang, UCE Burla organised technical talk during tech fest with Abhishek.

  • Prabit mishra from NIT,Rourkela had organised Confluence2K9. He conducted lots of demos, contests on Sun Technologies.

  • Rakesh from BITS, Goa had organized a technical talk, Contest during his college Tech fest.

  • Rohinder Singh from College of technology, Pantnagar had organised OSS Camp. 150 participated in this event.

Commendable Work done by CA's


  • Jay and Vasusen are extensively working on Sun SPOT - Applied ecological research under project CANOPEE with ATREE . For their research work they visited KMTR rain forest.

  • SRKNEC students are involved in Collaborative project work with UNESCO. Jay and Vasusen are also helping in this effort.

  • Sushant and team from SMVDU, J & K have developed and implemented CAMS Centralized Automated Management System) project at SMVDU, J & K.Vice Chancellor of SMVDU is working with Department Of IT, Jammu & Kashmir Govt to Implement CAMS across J & K.

  • SMVDU, J & K have adopted Sun technologies as part of their course curriculum. This was initiated by Sushant.


  • Vasudha Amrit from MIT, Manipal worked with sun engineers and MIT management for introducing sun technologies as part of their course curriculum.

  • Manoj from CIT, coimbatore is actively involved in introducing sun technologies as part of their course curriculum. This was initiated by Kumar Abhishek.

  • Avinash from Amrita university ,Kollam is actively involved in introducing sun technologies as part of their course curriculum. This was done during KNR's visit to their campus .

  • Jay and Vasusen from SRKNEC, Nagpur actively involved in introducing sun technologies as part of their course curriculum. This was initiated by sun engineer Rohan Ranade.

  • Ankit from DAIICT, Gandhinagar had worked tirelessly in setting up a dedicated sun Lab at their campus.

  • Sampat Patnaik,JITM, Orissa had worked tirelessly in setting up a dedicated sun lab and also conducted Dtrace contest and in house training of Java.
